FC Barcelona vs S.L. Benfica: Barça Cruise to UCL Quarter-Finals with 4-1 Aggregate Win [11/03/2025]

FC Barcelona V/S S.L. Benfica is a highly anticipated game previously clashed giving a score of 4-5 with last-minute goals and the recent first leg in Portugal with Barca leading 1-0 despite being one man down.

The two teams held a moment of silence honouring the late club doctor Carles Minarro who passed away on Saturday.

Barcelona started strong and fast.
The first chance for Barcelona came from Pedri who hit a loose ball after De Jong lost possession but was blocked by the defence.

Raphinha opened the scoresheet from a beautiful assist by Yamal doubling the aggregate score.

Yamal upon receiving the ball at the half line makes a run, shows his skills dribbling past the defence and makes an amazing pass to find Raphinha who with ease finds the back of the net.

2 minutes after the goal Benfica had a reply to the Barca celebration.
Following a corner, Otamendi is free near the post and heads it in.

By the mark of 25 minutes into the first half, Barcelona registered 7 attempts while Benfica only had 1 attempt made.

Barcelona won a free kick, the ball went over the penalty area which was found by Yamal, he curled his shot in after driving it to the edge of the area.

Barcelona made it 3 just before the first half ended.
Balde made a run from his half. The run looked promising and it was. He passed it to Raphinha in the box who sent it to the bottom right corner.

It was Raphinha’s second goal of the night.

There was a VAR check to check if Raphinha was offside and after the check was completed, the goal stood.
Barcelona 3(4) – 1(1) S.L. Benfica

Barcelona enjoyed a good spell of possession.

There was a penalty appeal in the 76th minute after Martinez blocked Dalh’s shot from close range.
A VAR check was completed and the referee signalled NO penalty.

By the 84th minute, Barcelona had a total of 16 attempts so far as compared to Benfica’s 7 attempts.

The match ended with an aggregate score of FC Barcelona 4-1 S.L. Benfica, crushing hopes of Benfica.

FC Barcelona knocked out S.L. Benfica to march to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.


Pedri was awarded MVP yet again his second, first one was awarded in the first leg of the RO16.
