It was the last dance at Fatorda, FCGoa faced Mohammedan SC in the last home game of the season.
There was a rotation in Goa’s line up as compared to the usual starting 11.
Manolo Marquez featured Dejan Drazic, Iker Guarrotxena, Lara Sharma, Boris Singh, Rowllin Borges, Seriton Fernandes, Nim Dorjee, and Sanatomba Singh in the starting 11 in this match.
Fcgoa opened the scoresheet in the 40’ after Iker Guarrotxena netted a header from an assist by Ayush Chhetri following a corner.
The first half ended FCG 1 – 0 MSC.
Goa has been incredibly threatening in front of the goal which has been trouble for the Mohammedan SC’s goalkeeper as he needed to be constantly on his toes.
With just one goal separating the two teams at half time the second half can only be more pleasing to watch as Mohammedan SC aimed for an equalizer and FC Goa pushed in for a win.
Mohammedan SC had its share of chances but wasn’t enough as they failed to convert any of them.
Iker struck yet again, doubling Goa’s lead and Mohammedan SC’s misery in the 86th minute.
He scored yet another header from inside the 6-yard box.
The goal was initially awarded to Iker Guarrotxena but later declared as an own goal by Padam Chettri.
FCGoa dominated the entire match scoring 2 goals and holding a clean sheet.
FC Goa is currently in the 2nd spot with 48 points with one last away game against Shield winners MBSG.
Meanwhile Mohammedan SC didn’t have such a celebratory season finishing bottom of the table with 12 points with one last home game against Punjab FC.
