Buckle up your seatbelts as this match is full of mini heart attacks and bouts of laughter.
From the very first whistle, it felt like FC Goa and Mumbai City FC had silently agreed to give everyone watching a mini heart attack every five minutes.
Before anyone could blink, the match had its first shocker, right at kickoff.
In a rare situation, Iker Guarrotxena was shown a RED CARD because of an altercation due to the colour of his shorts.
FC Goa could still feature 11 players on the pitch as Javier Siverio replaced Iker and Borja Herrera took over the captaincy duties.
It was a slow start to the game as both teams were trying to find their momentum.
FC Goa needed a moment to settle back into rhythm after the red card episode and it was exactly what happened after they opened the scoresheet.
Brison Fernandes scored an amazing goal separating the 2 teams.
3 minutes later FC Goa doubled their lead after a rocket shot from David Timor.
The gameplay from Mumbai City FC wasn’t very strong as they struggled to find their rhythm in the first half.
Refereeing decisions were all over the place, clear fouls vanished into thin air, soft touches were treated like crime scenes, and every whistle felt like a plot twist no one asked for. The referees really need to do better.
The second half had its own saga.
Mumbai City FC started gaining momentum and it was at this moment the game truly felt like a semi final.
The first highlight of the second half was a PENALTY won by MCFC after a foul from Hrithik Tiwari.
Chhangte stepped up to take the penalty. The penalty could have changed the course of the game but he skied it up.
It was when the Gaurs breathed a sigh of relief, MCFC’s Brandon Fernandes, former FC Goa captain scored.
Hrithik Tiwari really stepped up this match, making continuous saves.
One red card, one wild semi-final, and ninety minutes of chaos later, FC Goa stood exactly where they promised they would be: IN THE FINAL!!!
The Gaurs will face East Bengal on December 7th at the Fatorda Stadium.
