Barcelona clinched their 29th league title after securing a 2-0 win against their eternal rivals Real Madrid.

Barcelona started fiercely yet took control over the game from the opening minutes.

Rashford’s stunning free-kick put the hosts ahead within 8 minutes of the game, becoming the first Barcelona player to score a direct free-kick in an El Clasico in La Liga since Messi in 2012.

That’s not it, he was the first Englishman to score a goal for Barcelona in El Clasico since Gary Lineker, in April 1988.

Ferran scored the second of the night, doubling the lead minutes later, putting Barcelona in full control early in the match.

Real Madrid tried to exploit the high line with Jude Bellingham sliding in Vinicius, but Eric Garcia managed to get a foot in.

It was a poor first half from Real Madrid, as Barcelona was clearly the better team on the pitch.

Vinicius was found reminding the Barcelona fans about the 15 UCLs they won as he constantly held up the number 15 towards the fans.

What is an El Clasico without a little chaos?

This one delivered exactly that with, tensions boiling over almost nothing and 2 players seeing yellow.

Raul Asencio committed a clear foul but kept dribbling and put it at the back of the net, while the referee approached to book him, Dani Olmo came in and shoved Asencio to the floor.

Both players were booked.

Meanwhile Courtois was one of the few bright spots for Madrid making multiple crucial saves, repeatedly denying Rashford and Ferran Torres to keep their remontada hopes alive.

Jude Bellingham took his chance and thought he scored but was offside.

Tensions continued to rise as Raphinha and Trent Alexander-Arnold got into a small physical altercation, resulting in another pair of yellow cards being shown.

El Clasico and fights are something which always blend in well.

Seeing this from the lens of Real Madrid, this loss was a horrible end to their season and mainly this week, as reports of a fight between Valverde and Tchouameni in training on Thursday were circulating.

This result confirms Real Madrid will end this season trophyless.

Back in October 2025, Real Madrid celebrated wildly after Barcelona lost the first El Clasico of this season at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, and moved 5 points clear early in the season as though the league winner was crowned.

Fast forward to today, Barcelona are crowned league champions for the 29th time, their second consecutive league trophy. This was also the first time when the title was decided in an El Clasico since 1932.

Barcelona now sit on 91 points with an aim of hitting 100 at the end of the season.

Maybe that’s the biggest lesson football keeps teaching, never let one victory convince you the story is finished.
